Maternity guide

Beautiful, timeless portraits need proper preparation.  I know that pregnancy is a very emotional time in life, especially for mum-to-be life, so to make your life easier, I would like to share some tips on preparing for a maternity session and answering the most common questions.

When should I book my maternity session?

First, know that planning is a must, and the best time would be around 3 months before your session date to secure your space.  As for the timing in your court, it’s best to book your session between 28 and 35 weeks so that your belly is nicely visible but you’re not uncomfortable.

How to prepare for a maternity session?

Black, white and nude underwear with a strapless bra is essential.

I always highly recommend doing professional makeup and take care of styled hairstyle. We will also focus on your hands during the session, so please be sure that you have a well-groomed manicure.

What to wear?

If there is anything you wish us to photograph or any outfits you wish us to wear, bring them that day.  I have lots of exclusive dresses, bodysuits, fabrics, jewellery and props, which we can use during your session. Daddy will need to dress himself. Partners are asked to prepare casual stylizations; clothes should not have prints, inscriptions or textures. More suggestions you will get in a private message.

Can my partner take part in the session?

Pregnancy is absolutely wonderful adventure for both parents. That's why I always recommend doing maternity session with your partner /children. Just make sure everyone has colour-matching outfits on.

Where will the session take place?

I want to invite you to my cosy home studio based in Trowbridge. If you decide on an outdoor session, I will suggest the location depending on the current season.  Maternity sessions are usually taking place in the Wiltshire and Somerset area.
