Newborn guide
A newborn session is a massive step in your babies life. Usually, it is strictly connected with the very first walk. Most parents are getting stressed. But trust me, it's completely unnecessary. Let me give you some tips on preparing for a newborn session to be nice, calm and easy.
How long will the session take?
A newborn session usually takes around 3 hours. Because this is a special type of session with a tiny person trying to adapt to an entirely new situation, I suggest that you do not plan any other activities for the day of our meeting. A session plan is taking individually after settling all details via phone call.
What should I take to the session?
-
dummy - even if you don't want to use dummy every day, this might be helpful to calm the baby
-
blanket
-
minimum of 5 nappies
-
if you are breastfeeding - take a bottle with expressed milk
-
if you are feeding formula - take a bottle and formula
-
because accidents happen, bring an extra change of clothing for the baby and yourself.
-
medications, e.g. for colic
-
due to the high temperature in the studio ( 24-28 degree), mum might bring some makeup accessories, wear comfy, light clothes.
-
don't forget about outfits for family shoots
-
take care of styled hairstyle, makeup and well-groomed manicure
At the photoshoot, coffee, tea, water and biscuits, and snacks will be served, but you might like to bring a lunch.
To let you feel as much comfortable as I can I provide to my studio also backup nappies, wet tissues, a feeding pillow, nappy cream (Bepanten, Sudocrem), saline to wash the eyes.
Should I take props?
No. I have a massive collection of cute newborn wraps, hats, bodysuits, and headbands.
Should we wear masks?
Yes! Because I work closely with newborns, small children, and pregnant women, I have to ensure all clients are protected during their photo session with me.
I will clean the studio before and after each session, and all door handles, tables and items you are likely to come in contact with will be cleaned and wiped with an antibacterial solution.
To protect all my clients I always ask them to come to the session being healthy also with healthy children. If you or your child has a fever, cough or runny nose please let me know, we can always rearrange the session.
Please don't be afraid to ask your photographer where she/he learn how to do newborn sessions, discuss posing methods, ask how many sessions did she/he made, and did she/he has any proof of this. And yes, you should do this. This is essential because remember that you are given to somebody's hands your treasure. So dear Parents, please don't forget about it.
